Jesus Christ and The Avengers

I just wanted to reflect before I watch Marvel’s The Avengers: Infinity War, I could remember a few stories in retrospect. I was a serving Christian youth minister for a church a few years back, and it was always fun to hang out after a bible study. One of those happy moments was movie time, and it was the first Avengers movie.

Now, putting together a horde of angsty teens, young and younger people from different places, walks of life, backgrounds, age differences, different financial situations, attitudes, from bible study moving to the movie theater and buying tickets – popcorn and soda, and back home…. is a lot, LOT of work. It’s a wonder how we did not lose our minds back then.

It made me think (and geeking out), How is like as Christians, are a team of super heroes?

  1.  Jesus was the first super hero:
-Need we say more? He turned water into wine (John 2:1-9), Walks on water (Matthew 14:25), Raises the dead (John 11: 38-44). If that isn’t super hero material, then I don’t know what is.

2.  Jesus wants us to call upon Him, against all odds:
– Remember the scene where Loki says “I have an army.” then Stark says “We have a Hulk.” That’s the kind of attitude God wants us to have against the storms of life. “You got problems? We have Jesus!”

3.) After Jesus’ death and resurrection, God wants us to continue His will, modeled after Jesus Christ:

Near the last scene of the movie, The dialogue between Loki and Stark., Stark says against Loki’s threats: That Loki’s army may come and overwhelm them, But if they can’t protect Earth, They will avenge it.

Now we get the stings of life, like poverty, sickness, heartaches, failures, all the bad stuff. As Christians, we anchor to God and look to Jesus. Despite all the troubles in this world, He had already won and overcame the world (John 16:33.)

Lastly.) In Age of Ultron: When Hawkeye says “…I have a bow & arrow, none of this makes sense… but if you step out of that door, you’re an Avenger. ”

Truth be told, I don’t understand a lot of things in this world today. Chances are, you don’t as well. But one thing is for certain, once you accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; you are a Christian. You are under God’s kingdom, whatever He possess, you have it as well (2 Peter 1:3).  Your Father in Heaven is the creator of the universe; riches, glory and power and might for His divine purpose is upon you (1 Chronicles 29:11). In line with that, we are made in His image (Genesis 1:27), So be confident in declaring your healing, your prosperity, your victory, God has already made it done for you!

Now relax, and go see that movie! 😉
